WELCOME HOME...

…to Central City, a historic New Orleans neighborhood in the heart of opportunity.

Early Jazz greats King Oliver, Kid Ory and Buddy Bolden called Central City home. Centennial businesses, Leidenheimer Bakery and Brown’s Dairy, started and stayed here. The Southern Christian Leadership Council was born here, and Oretha Castle Haley, a Central City resident, founded the New Orleans chapter of CORE, the Congress of Racial Equality. Our neighborhood’s history has its highlights and its hard knocks – and we love this special place.

Today, Central City is home to anchor institutions like Ashé Cultural Arts Center and the Central City EOC and important community partners like Good Work Network, Parkway Partners and Reconcile New Orleans. We are people, partners and problem solvers. Come join us!
